(1) Q: Whats the difference between each sailing design range?

A: The Wilderness and Cosmos ranges are our Cruising designs, suited to loading up with your cruising gear and with the bigger boats, a live-aboard situation. The performance is still excellent in "Light Ship" mode, and very respectable even if fully-loaded. The Waterline and Line Honours designs are aimed more for performance. The Waterline being Cruiser/Racers and the Line Honours, Racer/Cruisers.

(2) Q: Whats the difference between the Cosmos and Wilderness Designs?

A: The Cosmos range is Strip-planked round bilged construction, where as the Wilderness is built using Flat Panels and has Chines, but the advantage is they can be supplied as a Pre-cut Kit, saving alot of time.

(3) Q: Why do you think End-Grain Balsa is better than foam?

A: See section, Material Choice

(4) Q: Outboard Motors VS Inboard Diesels!

A: In our performance orientated designs, such as the Waterline or Line Honours we specify outboards mainly because of the weight-saving advantage. Outboards also give you alot more flexibility and space in the aft cabins, and no fumes, fuel, heat or noise in your accomodation area. For the bigger Cosmos or Wilderness Designs, it comes down to your personal preference, but either can be used, usually over 45' Diesels are more practical.

(5) Q: Payload - What is included?

A: Payload always includes the following-

-Fuel and Water

-Crew

-Food and Beverages

-Crews personal items, (Clothes Etc.)

-Lockers Contents I.E. Pots, Pans, Cutlery.

-Miscenlaneous goods I.E. Books, Ornaments, Videos, CD's Etc.

(6) Q: Daggerboards VS Keels, fixed or kick-up Rudders?

A: Because all our designs are good performers, we recommend Daggerboards, if you are not that concerned with performance, then Mini-Keels are adequate. We feel Daggerboards have a very important safety feature in extreme conditions, of being able to be raised and allow "Side Slip" if caught broadside to a wave. Kick up rudders are a huge advantage for beaching. When incorporated with Daggerboards and retractable Outboards it is ideal too, as everything can be raised. If inboard Diesels are used, fixed rudders are preferred, as they help to protect and keep the weight off the Diesels leg, when beached.
