Prowler 420
This modern, sleek and powerful semi-displacement power cat is the latest in our "Prowler" range. Commissioned to be production built overseas she is aimed at the World market and particularly the USA and Caribbean for use in Charter. With strong interest in Australia from charter operators, she will be offered in Survey.
Plans will also be available for Amateur or Professional construction in two versions; both strip planked composite construction. Option one uses two "Steyr" 215hp diesel engines providing a top speed of 25 - 28 knots and a cruising speed of 15 - 20 knots, the second option runs smaller 60hp diesels with a top speed of 15 - 18 knots and a cruising speed of 12 - 15 knots.

Efficiency, comfort and long range are high on her priority list. Seaworthiness is essential as she'll be used offshore and delivered on her own bottom through and across some of the roughest oceans out there.
This type of hull form offers a very comfortable ride at high cruising speeds even in rough conditions. The ability to be fully efficient at all speed ranges makes fuel economy her strong point. At cruising speeds it is quite possible to have a 1000 mile range, this makes her a true cruising cat easily capable of crossing oceans or perhaps exploring the Pacific.

The catamaran concept offers huge internal space making it possible to have 4 double cabins with en suites for luxury charter. The big saloon, cockpit and galley make her a real home away from home. Walk through forward access makes the foredeck part of the playground and very convenient for anchoring and docking as the skipper has a clear view as well as easy access.
The flybridge offers a second (or primary) steering station. This is well sheltered and shaded and can be closed-in in case of bad weather. The aft section is ideal for sunbathing or relaxing with your favourite book and bottle of wine.

Motor installation is quite flexible in terms of final position especially with the smaller power units. Weight should be kept as central as possible but this can be adjusted with fuel and water tanks. This allows a wider choice of layouts in the hulls optimizing personal preferences and needs.
The underwater lines are simple and clean with a long straight keel line. The props and rudders are fully protected making her easy to beach or moor in shallow creeks. This makes her very safe, user friendly and easy to maintain.

She's an exciting efficient Powercat and one I am sure will be a pleasure to use and own. This is not one of those 'sport-fisher' type cruisers you'll see ploughing along at low speed and 'still' ploughing along at high speed. The fuel dock won't like this new style cat but I am sure your bank account will.
Speeds will depend a little on your "build" weight and equipment choice, it is simply a matter of power to weight ratio but this cat has the big advantage of basic efficiency in design.
