The Wilderness 1250X is a good compromise between a fast sailing machine and a practical live-aboard cruiser, if you like to travel comfortably at good speed, this boat is for you. There are a couple of layout options, galley up and galley down. With this model, we favour the galley-up layout, this seems to work very well and also is proving to be very popular. This option lends itself to inboard diesels with open, easy-access walkthrough transoms into the cockpit at bridge-deck level. The cockpit has been left quite open with a central door into the saloon, integrating the saloon and cockpit as one. There are also big drop-down windows for those tropical days. Behind the cockpit is a full-width duckboard, which can be accessed from the back steps, ideal for the kids swimming off the back. As with all Schionning’s she shares a pedigree of design with great bridgedeck clearance, ample reserve buoyancy and the latest composite engineering that our clients depend on. Offered as a full pre-cut Duflex balsa kit this design is quick and easy to build.
